Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

We visited Crater Lake on June 14, 2022. We parked the Renegade in the Crater Lake RV Park, a very nice small, wooded park located 32 miles from the entrance to the national park. We drove the Jeep to Crater Lake knowing that the road around the lake was not completely open but we explored what we could. Except for the visitor center parking area, snow still covered the ground.

The complete drive around the lake was not available until July 15th.

The description of Crater Lake from NPS.GOV ~

"Crater Lake inspires awe. Native Americans witnessed its formation 7,700 years ago, when a violent eruption triggered the collapse of a tall peak. Scientists marvel at its purity—fed by rain and snow, it’s the deepest lake in the USA and one of the most pristine on Earth. The lake averages more than five miles in diameter and is surrounded by steep rock walls that rise up to 2,000 feet above the lake's surface."

Since our Crater Lake adventure we have been very busy hiking, biking and traveling. I am behind in my blogging (stress!) and will stop here with the photos taken during our 6/14/22 visit.
